New Breed Results

I just want to let everyone know how proud I am of both of our fighters. They both worked very hard to prepare for their fights. Both needing to cut some weight while also improving on all aspects of fighting. Lets start with Joe Schmid who fought a very game opponent in Scott Hubick. This kid was extremely strong and much more skillful than we had anticipated. Joe repeatedly scored big takedowns and dominated on the ground eventually finishing him with a head and arm choke in the second round. Although he did not throw many punches in this fight it should be known that he spent many hours with kickboxing coach Kevin Kirk who in my book is the man. Thanks Kevin. This fight was a great start to what we believe will be a very successful mma career. Next, we had Jeremy DeNardo fighting Anton Burzin, a very very dangerous and well rounded fighter. During this camp, Jeremy's boxing skill really developed thanks to the good coaching he recieved from Sean at Gladiators Boxing. Jeremy dominated his opponent from the get go scoring a BIG takedown and working him over with a variety of strikes from cross side and half guard. To his credit, Anton weathered some punishing blows and recovered to full guard where he continued to be battered for another minute before turning the tables and catching Jeremy in a very tight armbar forcing the tap. These guys deserve a ton of credit for stepping up and putting on two of the best fights of the night. Be sure to check us out at the next New Breed Event April 11th. We should have Glenn Sonnabend making his return and also Jeremy DeNardo looking to get right back in there. More info and pictures to come at www.newbreedfighters.tv
Some more thanks need to go out to the guys from the school who helped in preparation for the event like Mike Lanzano Phil and Joe Romano Matt DeNardo and Glenn Sonnabend and everone else who endured training with these animals for eight weeks.

New Jersey State BJJ Tourney Results

Congrats to all of our competitors for stepping up to the plate this past Saturday. We were represented by Miriam and Ray Nieves, Steve and Dan Skerritt, Sang Son, Dan Peoples, Mike Governale, Jason Barnoski, Rob Weir, Dave Terhune, Matt DeNardo and Dennis Ryan.
We had a good showing, taking home 8 top three places. Dennis put on a technical display in the Advanced Open Class fighting and defeating his first two opponents handily. Each of them having over 50 lbs on him. He then faced a monster of a man in the finals who easily weighed close to 400lbs and lost a close one by a couple of points. Dave Terhune pulled out a Silver medal in his division as well. Dan Peoples and Rob Weir both won there divisions. Dan submitted both of his opponents with keylock/straight armlock combos. Ray Nieves had some good matches and fought his way to a bronze in his division. Finally, Steve Skerritt and Jason Barnoski split the Bronze in their division and Miriam took the Bronze in her division as well.
Good Job guys.
